Thus far my experience switching from windows 7 to 10 has not been enjoyable.

It was working fine in 7 but when I accepted and installed 10 all I get is error 00xc0000142 and Windows Explorer either will not open at all or continuously crashes.

I have attempted repairing, re-installing and uninstalling Inventor to no avail.

The only change I can see is that with Inventor uninstalled, Windows Explorer opens normally and does not crash.

I have also run a search for the error and gone through the list of possible causes with no change.

According to the compatibility site for Windows there should be no problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Ive encountered the same error when trying to run Inventor 2009 on Windows 8.1, and after a lot of research this is what I managed to find out.

Autodesk released fixes in versions 2011 through 2014, but earlier versions wont work with newer Windows.

Fiddling with AppinitDLLs as suggested on other forums wont help, as well.
